Charity Drive for Asrama Desa Pukak, Kiulu

In search of humanity in people around Kota Kinabalu, 11 students from different courses in AMC College come up with an idea of doing a charity drive for people in need. The students came from Diploma in Computer Networking and Diploma in Business Administration, working together as one to fulfill their charity drive.Asrama Desa Pukak (ADP) is located in the heart of Kiulu. Reachable by car with 1 hour and 8 minutes’ drive via Jalan Tamparuli Kiulu. Asrama Desa Pukak currently occupied by 23 children with age range from 7 to 12 years old and volunteers from Good Shepherd Services. The hostel is mainly built for those children whom houses are too far away from their school, which need almost 1 to 2 hours of walking as cars are impossible in their areas of living. As per advised by the supervisor there, some of the children staying at ADP as they have no one to look after for them.

Committee of the Charity Drive able to gather all necessities needed by ADP such as toiletries, dry foods, stationeries and even board games. Different varieties of books are also donated by AMC College Library Department as one of the support for the children to enhance their knowledge by reading.  

The visit by the committee took place on 13^th February 2018 for the hand over donation ceremony and they had some activities with the children. Bonding time with the children made the students feel fortunate for being given full access in their education and give them more reasons to appreciate. The event went smooth and success.
