To the Malaysian, pursuing a UK degree is seen as one of the most highly regarded quality education in the world. In 2022, there are 17 UK universities ranked in the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings. UK higher education is not only recognised internationally but also being benchmarked by many other countries in setting standards.
As the Malaysia education system is inherited from the British education system, most of the degree programs from the UK are recognised by the Malaysian government. Although Malaysia education today has its own education framework, it still matches the British standard whereby the Malaysian students can benefit from the current UK education system in terms of pathway,
accreditation, credit transfer and exemption.
Despite a host of advantages mentioned above, the opportunity for school leavers to pursue their studies in the UK is becoming more and more challenging mainly due to the rising cost of education and living in the UK. The recent covid19 pandemic issue may also be another major concern of parents sending their children to the UK to study.
Nevertheless, there is an alternative for many SPM and UEC leavers who just obtained their results in June. Leeds Beckett University, UK (LBU) is able to provide a solution to those students who face challenges to go to the UK, by coming to Sabah. That is by conducting their two Bachelor Honours Degrees 100% in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
On 16 June 2022, two international officers from LBU visited Kota Kinabalu, Sabah sharing to a group of SPM leavers and Diploma students on the opportunity to pursue their Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and Finance and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business and Management for either 3 or 2 years duration entirely at AMC College in Kota Kinabalu.
The benefits of pursuing these two degree programs at AMC College in Kota Kinabalu not only can help reduce the overall education cost substantially but it can also avoid the risk of traveling and undergoing quarantine during the pandemic period.
According to Mr Liam Howarth, the Regional Manager of East & Southeast Asia from LBU, the two Bachelor degree qualifications studied and completed at AMC College are the same as those to be awarded in the UK.
LBU is a very established university in the UK with a history dating back to 1824. LBU is a modern and professional university with a total student population of 28,000 from over 140 countries. It has been ranked five out of five stars for Employability, Teaching, and Inclusiveness by QS Stars University Ratings 2022. LBU is the first UK University collaborating with a Sabah homegrown private college in Kota Kinabalu city.
Degree courses at LBU are taught by expert academics who have close links with industry to ensure that students will graduate with the skills, knowledge, professional accreditation and experience that is relevant to their future career.
Hence, students who study the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and Finance and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business and Management at AMC College will be able to learn from experienced lecturers who are qualified Chartered Accountants, Chartered Marketer, Lawyers, Certified IT Professional, Master and PhD degree holders. With the industry linked knowledge and skills embedded in the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and Finance program, students have the option to pursue further professional accountancy qualifications such CIMA, ACCA and ICAEW with maximum exemptions. While graduates from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business and Management program could also aim to become a Chartered Manager.
It is a golden opportunity for the current SPM and UEC leavers who have been dreaming for a prestigious UK degree from a far distance which now can be obtained at your doorstep.
