AMC University College, through the School of Hospitality and Tourism and Hospitality Club, successfully organised an Industrial Visit to Hyatt Regency Kinabalu involving Diploma in Hotel Management (Work-Based Learning) students. The visit aimed to provide students with real industry exposure and strengthen their understanding of professional hotel operations.

The programme began with a warm welcome and Leadership Committee Greetings session, which also included an interactive Q&A and sharing session with the hotel’s top management team. Students had the valuable opportunity to engage with the General Manager, Mr Thor Gervasi, together with directors from various hotel departments. During the session, the management team shared insightful experiences, career advice, and industry expectations, while providing valuable inputs and motivation to the students regarding professionalism, leadership, communication skills, and career development in the hospitality industry.

Throughout the programme, students also participated in several engaging and educational sessions, including Cooking and Barista Demonstrations, where they observed professional culinary and beverage preparation techniques, as well as a Bed Making Demonstration conducted by the Housekeeping team to showcase hotel room setup standards and procedures.

In addition, students attended a sharing session on the History of Hyatt, gaining valuable insights into the hotel’s background, corporate culture, and hospitality values. The programme concluded with a comprehensive Hotel Tour, allowing students to explore various operational departments and experience the working environment of an international five-star hotel.

Overall, the industrial visit provided students with meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom while enhancing their industry knowledge, confidence, communication skills, and career exposure. The programme also reflects the strong and continuous collaboration between AMC University College and Hyatt Regency Kinabalu in supporting industry-based learning and student development within the hospitality field.
