The 2026 ICT training programme fully sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Sabah (KPSTI) has recorded strong and sustained demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills development, reflecting the rapid transformation of the digital economy and the growing importance of AI in education, business and the workplace.
Among the most sought-after programmes are Artificial Intelligence – Mastering AI Applications, Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning with Python), Generative AI, and specialised courses covering AI systems, Algorithms and Practical AI Applications. The strong enrolment and positive participant feedback demonstrate that AI is no longer viewed simply as an emerging technology, but as an essential digital competency for individuals seeking to remain relevant and competitive in a rapidly changing workforce.
The growing popularity of AI training is also aligned with the current global technology trend, where AI is increasingly being integrated into everyday work processes, business operations, education, content creation, data analysis and digital services. The demand for practical AI knowledge highlights the need for continuous upskilling to ensure that Sabah’s workforce and communities are equipped to embrace these technological changes.
At the same time, practical ICT programmes continue to attract significant interest. Courses such as Audio & Video Editing (CapCut), Cloud Computing (Microsoft 365), Online Graphic Design (Canva) and Digital Marketing via Social Media have recorded substantial participation and commendable participant feedback.
The AI and ICT programmes achieved participant satisfaction ratings ranging from 4.67 to 5.00, with additional requests received for more training opportunities. These results reflect the relevance of the programmes and the strong interest among participants in acquiring practical digital skills that can be applied in their studies, careers, businesses and daily activities.
Importantly, the demand for AI and ICT training is not limited to major urban centres such as Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau. Strong participation and interest have also been recorded in interior and rural areas, including Tambunan, Keningau, Pensiangan and Sook. This demonstrates that the digital skills gap and demand for AI knowledge extend across Sabah, regardless of geographical location.
For AMC University College, the strong response to AI-related training reinforces the importance of continuously updating its training portfolio to reflect the latest technological developments and workforce requirements. As AI continues to reshape the way people learn, work and conduct business, accessible and industry-relevant AI training will play an increasingly important role in preparing Sabahans for the future.
The 2026 training experience therefore highlights a clear direction for future ICT skills development in Sabah: AI is becoming a core digital competency, while practical ICT skills remain essential for participation in the digital economy.
AMC University College remains committed to supporting the development of a skilled, competitive and future-ready Sabah workforce by expanding access to relevant AI and ICT training opportunities across both urban and rural communities.
